The signature colour of my magazine will be purple, and will feature in every edition. I will also use the colour white and any other text will be black.

M2(U3): Legal and ethical issues are identified and resolved for the planned production

Legal issues

Copyright, designs and patents act

This is important legislation and it impacts my work by it giving me the rights to control how my work is used and distributed. As well as this, anything in which I will design or code is automatically copyrighted and may not be copied without my permission, as the digital creator. If I do not consider this, someone else could claim they have the creative ownership over my magazine. People would also be able to access it for free on different platforms which means that they would not have to purchase my magazine and I would earn no profit.

Model release form

I would need to consider the model release form as that is what grants permission to include the artist in my magazine. This could impact my magazine as if I do not get this form signed and still include photos of the artist, I could get sued by the artist. To resolve this I would ensure that the model release form is signed and have a back up model to take their place if they are not willing to sign the form.

Defamation law

I would need to consider the Defamation law, as it need to ensure that when I write the text about the artist, I cannot state anything that is untrue and damaging to their reputation, or it would be classed as Libel. This could impact my magazine as I could be sued by the artist and would result in the pay out of a lot of money, as well as a bad reputation of my brand. To resolve this I will write exact quotes of how they answered the question, rather than twisting their words or making it up.

Intellectual property

If some images i want to use are not my intellectual property, I need to seek permission to use them. If i embedded them without the permission, I could receive a lawsuit and my magazine could be at risk of being pulled. A way in which I could avoid this is by producing my own photos and make it my intellectual property so that I can use them how and when I want.

Ethical issues

Representation of groups

I need to consider how I represent specific groups within my magazine. For example, as my magazine appeals to an audience of different race and ethnicities I need to present them in a favourable way that will not be deemed as offensive, or else it will not be appealing to my target audience and could risk being pulled by IPSO. To resolve this I will refrain from reflecting any stereotypes that people have on particular groups on to my magazine.

Privacy rights

I need to consider and respect that some people I want to interview for my magazine may want to be kept anonymous and not illustrate a face to the name. If I ignore their privacy rights and issues then I could face a lawsuit and have to pay out a lot of money. To resolve this, I must reflect this is my magazine by not embedding photos of them on the front page or inside.

Keep cast and crew healthy and safe

One ethical issue I would need to consider is keeping the crew healthy and safe. This could impact my magazine as the brand I establish could have a bad representation and be associated with bad things if I do not prioritise the health and safety of the cast and crew. To resolve this, I will ensure there is set breaks in which they can eat, drink and take any medication they may need to.

No foul language

If I use foul language in my magazine it could be deemed offensive to my audience, which therefore would be a risk as complaints to the regulatory body, IPSO, could result in my magazine being pulled from the market. To resolve this I must avoid using bad language across the magazine, or use * to cover up the bad language.

Task 8: Post-production techniques and processes (U3: P5)

Task 8: Post-production techniques and processes (U3: P5)  Learning Outcome 4  (U3) :  Be able to carry out post-production techniques and processes for an original media product to a client brief.     P5  (U3) : Carry out post-production techniques and processes to produce a final original media product in line to the client brief    I firstly  uploaded my main image onto the front cover. I decided to do this before writing the cover-lines as then I would be able to scatter the cover-lines across the page without disrupting the main image.  I then used the shape tool and created a rectangle, that I used as a skyline.  I then duplicated the skyline layer, and dragged it to the bottom. This is so I have a space to put the significant conventions of a magazine, such as the date, edition number, price and website.  I then used the colour picker to change the 2 shapes to the colour purple, as that is the signature colour...

I will do this by creating an artist-based pop music magazine, based in North London, appealing to readers with a shared interest in pop .  I will do this by providing amusing content, such as exclusive interviews and appealing images that conform to the genre of pop, that will attract my target audience. One of the ways in which this will entertain my audience could be through escapism. As it will consist of an exclusive interview, it allows readers to escape from t...
