Task 8: Post-production techniques and processes (U3: P5)
Learning Outcome 4 (U3): Be able to carry out post-production techniques and processes for an original media product to a client brief.
P5 (U3): Carry out post-production techniques and processes to produce a final original media product in line to the client brief
I firstly uploaded my main image onto the front cover. I decided to do this before writing the cover-lines as then I would be able to scatter the cover-lines across the page without disrupting the main image.
I then used the shape tool and created a rectangle, that I used as a skyline.
I then duplicated the skyline layer, and dragged it to the bottom. This is so I have a space to put the significant conventions of a magazine, such as the date, edition number, price and website. I then used the colour picker to change the 2 shapes to the colour purple, as that is the signature colour of my magazine.
After adding the colour, I clicked on the text tool and wrote the content within the skyline and the bottom of the page. The skyline states '10% of our profit goes to Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy Centre', and the text at the bottom of the page states '06/05/2021 £5.99
Edition #1 www.replay.co.uk'.
After this, I added another textbox and uploaded the font 'feeling passionate'. I then added in part of the main cover-line, which is the artists name. I did this in the 'feeling passionate font' as it connotes a handwritten feel, as though the artist themselves had written it. I then clicked on the option stroke and chose the colour purple so that the name was highlighted, and able to stand out.
I then added the rest of the cover-line. I put the 'exclusive' in the same font as the masthead to display it's significance, and make it so it is seen as a buzz word. I made these parts slightly smaller, so that the readers attention is mainly brought to the artists name. However, I also highlighted these parts as it is still a cover-line and so still need to be eye catching, as this information is what will get the reader to buy my magazine.
I then did the same for the rest of the cover-lines.
I then added the barcode, another significant convention of a magazine.
I exported the final product as a JPEG and uploaded it to my blog.
Double page spread
Firstly, I uploaded the main image onto half of the page. As a double page spread consists of 2 sides, one of these sides will be a poster of the artist.
I added a shape at the bottom of the page, so that I could include the page numbers, and again reinforce the name of my website.
I then added the name of the artist in a large size, as the main article that I am writing, the q and a, is based on her.
I added the social media icons from Bing to this side of the double page spread, so it could lead readers straight to my social media page, readers then would be able to promote my magazine on their platforms, which will bring in a mass audience, and reach my target audience.
I then added a QR code, so that it reflects the front page where it states 'do you want to win free tickets to wireless festival', as scanning it leads them to a page in which they can enter the competition.
I then placed a small box behind the code, so that it is easily visible to readers and they will be able to access it clearly.
I then added the text 'scan to win free tickets to wireless festival', just to ensure readers know what the code is for.
After this, I created different sections on the page, that each piece of different content will go in. I chose for the main article to be embedded within the biggest box as it is the most significant part of the magazine, and the content is longer than the other sections.
I then created a box, and within the box, inserted a circle. This is so I can place the numbers for the 'pops top 10 current hits' inside.
After writing the numbers inside, I wrote the song an the artist next to the number their song belongs to in the chart. I also put the artists name so readers can easily find the music online. After completing the content within that part of the magazine, I added some other images of popular pop artists as well as the albums they created. The point is for the readers to match the artist with their album.
After placing them in the box, I wrote a sub title above the activity which tells them what to do if they want to complete it. I wrote it in the same font as the masthead so that the double page spread can have the same house style features as the front cover, and clearly shows all parts I have created are part of the same magazine.
I then opened and placed 2 more documents, that were my original photos. As, due to the an article being about the artist, I thought there should be more than just 1 picture of her, and there was an adequate space for these 2 pictures.
After this, I wrote a small introduction for the q and a, and created a box for it to go in, as well as the rest of the article. I added the masthead of my magazine within this introduction and highlighted it to make it stand out, to reinforce my brand.
I then created small sections within the box that each question would go in. I did them in different shades of purple to make them look different, as each question is different.
I then wrote the article, in the form of these small sections.
This is my final double page spread. I exported the final document as jpeg and uploaded it to my blog.
