Feedback

I need to mention why I called my magazine 'Replay'.

I also need to mention my colour scheme. I should do this by stating what the connotations of the colours i have chosen are, and how they do or do not conform to the genre of pop.

I should state why I have offered readers the chance to win Wireless tickets and why I have chosen to distribute my magazine at Wireless Festival. As well as this, how it appeals to my audience and what the festival actually is.

I need to point out why I have chosen boys of the ages 14-21 to be my secondary audience, and how I will target them. This also applies for the tertiary audience .

M2 (U21): Identify potential client questions and amend pitch and proposal documentation

Why have you chosen to market your magazine through social media?

I have chosen to market my magazine through social media as my target audience are likely to have a social media profile and will therefore be attracted to this type of marketing. By it being brought to their attention through and advert on Instagram and Facebook, it will appeal to them and make them feel inclined to buy it. By it also being available on Facebook, it will appeal to my tertiary audience, as older adults are likely to browse and socialise on this application.

Why did you choose to do an artist based magazine?

I have chosen to do an artist based magazine as there is limited competition in North London, so I want to fill the gap in the market.

Why did you choose to target your magazine to only those of a B-C2 grade?

Although it does not target all social groups in North London, it is easily accessible to a lot of them. I chose not to target those below the C2 social grade, as i am looking for loyal consumers who will subscribe to my magazine or buy a new edition every month, and those below the C2 may not have the disposable income to spend £3.99 on my magazine monthly.

What made you decide on this colour scheme?

I feel as though having my signature colour and cover lines as purple is effective as it is a bright colour, which therefore conforms to the genre of pop. By having my cover lines purple, it will attract the reader to the text in which it will say what the magazine will consist of and influence them to buy my magazine.  As well as this, it is a colour which can appeal both to my primary and secondary audience. I chose for my masthead to be black so that it is bold and attracts the reader to the text. This will reinforce brand identity and make it recognisable. I have chosen to make any other text white, as it is neutral colour and so will ensure my magazine is clear to understand and easy to access.

Why have you decided for your main article to be an exclusive Q&A with a new, upcoming artist?

I have done this to promote new artists and to boost their reputation and recognition. It will also give my audience something to identify with; and will educate them on their experience within the pop genre and their perspective on it. By providing them with loyal fans, they can also promote my magazine on their bigger platforms which will increase the amount of readers for my magazine. This therefore can work as cross promotion.

Is your USP appropriate to the brief and your target audience?

'10% of the money you give goes to Nordoff Robbins music therapy'.

My USP is appropriate to both the brief and my target audience. It is appropriate to the brief due to it being a charity in North London, which conforms to the requirement of it being a North London based magazine.  It will also appeal to my target audience and consumers as they are likely to have love and a passion for music and so want to share this with others and help them experience the joy music can bring about.

What makes your magazine different to the ones you showed in competition?

The 'Billboard' magazine is produced and distributed across the USA and 'We Love Pop' is produced and distributed across the whole of the UK. These magazines will therefore differ to mine as they will reflect a slight different music scene, as mine is North London based.

Final pitch powerpoint

How did I improve my pitch and act on the feedback I was given?

With the feedback I was provided with I made each slide within my presentation shorter, and included more images. This is so as well as speaking off notes what each slide means for my magazine in detail, I can visually illustrate the key aspects of my magazine, which is more effective.
Although I reinforced my magazines name at the beginning of the presentation, I was advised to explain why I have chosen the name 'Replay' for my magazine, and so I added why i had decided this name to my notes at the beginning of the presentation.
As well as this I was told to go into detail when talking about my secondary and tertiary audience, so within my notes I added as to why i will target my magazine to these audiences and what conventions I will use them to do it.
I also justified why I would offer readers the chance to win Wireless tickets and how it would appeal to them, as well as what the festival is within my notes.
I added a slide for my colour scheme, and visually illustrated the colours I will be using as well as the reason I have chosen them.
I also included a digital mock up and the end of the presentation to give a visual representation of what my magazine is roughly going to look like and the key conventions it will include.

Task 8: Post-production techniques and processes (U3: P5)

Task 8: Post-production techniques and processes (U3: P5)  Learning Outcome 4  (U3) :  Be able to carry out post-production techniques and processes for an original media product to a client brief.     P5  (U3) : Carry out post-production techniques and processes to produce a final original media product in line to the client brief    I firstly  uploaded my main image onto the front cover. I decided to do this before writing the cover-lines as then I would be able to scatter the cover-lines across the page without disrupting the main image.  I then used the shape tool and created a rectangle, that I used as a skyline.  I then duplicated the skyline layer, and dragged it to the bottom. This is so I have a space to put the significant conventions of a magazine, such as the date, edition number, price and website.  I then used the colour picker to change the 2 shapes to the colour purple, as that is the signature colour...

I will do this by creating an artist-based pop music magazine, based in North London, appealing to readers with a shared interest in pop .  I will do this by providing amusing content, such as exclusive interviews and appealing images that conform to the genre of pop, that will attract my target audience. One of the ways in which this will entertain my audience could be through escapism. As it will consist of an exclusive interview, it allows readers to escape from t...
